Orange is the new brown

Cycling through a part of London I don't usually venture through I noticed a woman walking down the street whose face was orange. As she got into her car I noticed a bit of her back which was orange too. Cycling further along the street I noticed another orange woman. I wondered if they were related until further down the street I noticed one of those tanning shops. Why would people want to turn orange?
