MORE JENVEY
Richard Bartholomew has written an interesting post which highlights a Guardian article about a Sun apology (though not to me for stealing my work, mutter, mutter..) relating to all things Jenvey, Ummah.com Alan Sugar etc. if you are up on that sort of thing. Its quite funny none of these articles state that Mr Jenvey is now a Muslim.

MORE JENVEY
OK, so it looks like The International Analyst Network didn't like Mr Jenvey's recent updates and have removed them, so they are currently only available on a Pravda forum.
I don't know Mr Jenvey but have had contact with him about all this as recorded here, and I was helping him a bit with some editing of the second piece when this news came through. I have also heard from one of the Islam4UK guys (Mr Waleed) about their recent encounter with Mr Jenvey.
He said that not surprisingly a lot of them didn't really know how to deal with meeting him when he came down to London and spent the day with them, but that after meeting him they feel his conversion is genuine. He told me that they had been reasurred by the Koran which carries stories of Mohammed's enemies converting.
As I have also said before, none of this makes any difference to me but I do find it all fascinating. Being an ex- born again Christian myself who used to knock on peoples doors and tell them about Jesus conversion stories are obviously going to be an interest of mine. Maybe this seems like an unnatural interest but I don't think I will be converting any time soon. I think I am still a bit of a slave to some addictions, even ones which I don't partake in anymore cause me worry sometimes but I don't really see the hand of Satan in it all, its just brainwaves, direction, motivations and concepts.
I found myself watching Abu Haffs lecture about Music Are You On the Right Track on the Islam4UK site. I think I asked this guy if he wanted to make some films after their meeting in Euston one time. Personally none of this moves me or resonates with me at all. I spent most of my time watching it thinking "Get to the bloody point!" but then I am a bloody musician innit so thats probably not surprising. Reading my own writing I am obviously happy for Mr Jenvey, if he is happy.
There are bloggers I know about as well as I know him who might have reason to dislike and mistrust him, I have no idea if these reasons are founded or not. To me he is now just another colourful Muslim I have come across who doesn't believe people should blow up random strangers here and as long as they don't I feel I must treat all of them the same way really.
To maybe provide a bit more perspective of where I am, I missed all this because I was in France doing a show. I just got word of some pictures on a britanny photographers Flash based website. If you click here and follow the links > "Spectacles"> "Vos galeries (...privées) > "The impossible" you can see them.
This sort of thing is much more my focus these days. I rarely examine my beliefs or my perspective on what is "success" in terms of film. In terms of filming Islamists or anyone else for that matter I still think the main thing I believe in is simply documenting. Although I haven't had any success in worldly terms I find I still hold this belief quite strongly and although I live in London and have done for a while now I try to keep hold of a very un-London attitude to hurry. This only seems to bother other road users for some reason.

OMAR HAMZA JENVEY
I have been away so I missed something I would love to have filmed. Here is an update from Glen Jenvey and a video of him joining those he used to spend his time trying to beat. From the article-

Self Starter Terr-ist Found Guilty
Isa Ibrahim, 20, made viable explosives, manufactured a suicide vest and carried out reconnaissance on the Broadmead shopping centre. Detectives believe he was about to launch an attack, possibly targeting the centre's busy food court area.
Police are heralding the case as a breakthrough as they say it is the first in which the information about a British would-be terrorist planning an atrocity in the UK has come just from a Muslim community.
Ibrahim's extremism did not come to the attention of the authorities until members of a mosque he attended grew worried about his behaviour and went to Avon and Somerset police.
Apparently Isa radicalised himself and learnt how to make his explosives online.

They are making a lot of this guy taking influence from Abu Hamza. There is also an article written by a Muslim I have just found called Islam and Jihad in context of international treaties and citizenship of a Non-Muslim majority state which says
...Lamentably, today, some elements are exhorting impressionable Muslim youth with to renege on their commitments and pacts in the name of jihad. In this way they are seeking to instigate them to violate the commandments of the shariah and the limits set by God, while also causing grave damage to the cause of Islam and its followers. These stupid people are not friends of Islam. Many of them, in fact, have been nurtured and are being used by the enemies of Islam. In this regard I can cite two notable instances—Abu Hamza al-Misri and Omar al-Bakri—both of who are based in England and are engaged in provoking young Muslims to take to violence while themselves enjoying the protection of the British Government....
This is a minor problem for me in that from what I saw on the street Hamza was preaching against Jihad here, and serious about his covenant of security. I don't know Bakri, I have seen mixed messages online but last time I saw Anjum Choudhary preach he also spoke about a covenant of security. I have linked to some of Hamza's kutbah's in the side bar. Do go through them to see if I am wrong, but don't radicalize yourself and blame me. The thing is, Hamza's video's which Glen Jenvey put up could be taken in the context of radicalization. In his defence he said they were in the context of what was happening in Bosnia at the time. The jury rejected that defence, unsurprisingly as 7/7 happened two days into the start of his trial.
Glen, as you probably all know by now reverted to Islam over the phone with Omar Bakri and he talks about making peace between Al Qaeda and "The West" rather than any threat. I have never known for certain if these guys are a threat or not. Giving evidence Mohammed Hamid said that there was a debate at Finsbury between those who thought the UK attack on Iraq and Afghanistan was a breach of covenant and those who thought the covenant still existed for Muslims living here and benefitting from this system.
I think they have definately suffered from their own anger allowing them to be costsrued as a threat. For example, in the video I posted the other day Abu Waleed talks about kaffirs not washing. Would the Daily Mail interpret this as hatred of all of us? Would a jury of his peers? He talks OK to me. I don't get any hatred vibes. When I first spoke to him on the phone I got the impression that they were doing "PVE" for free. Watching these videos it is hard not to slip into the mindset of the "journalists" who make money listening through and picking out phrases here and there which might sound vaguely threatening.
The Daily Mail would also argue- everyone today is arguing taking Isa as an example that these preachers should take some responsibility for what they put online and they are right. Atilla always said his hatred and anger was directed at the government, but it wouldn't always sound like that to a stranger sometimes I am pretty sure from the comments which have appeared on my videos of him preaching.
None of this makes a lot of diference to me. I wouldn't give a shit if Muslims did think I was a dirty kuffar. I have always liked the track. Daniel Sanford said they all used to come away from court singing it and I don't think he is an extremist. Obviously I don't want anyone to blow up or be blown up here or over there, but myself here I am just a curious observer.
Nobody blow up OK? It wont do you or your cause any good for a start and you wont be around to try to wade through all this toward a peace where we can all look each other in the eye and say- we did that.

Well that sort of balances out the "Unfit to sweep the sidewalk" comment on Ummah.com a bit I suppose but well known? I mean I have seen my webstats...

GLEN ON THE PHONE
OK. I spoke to Glen Jenvey on the phone briefly this morning and he pretty much confirmed vocally everything reported about him over the last few days. He said his recent experiences with The Daily Mail have crystallised a change of heart which is an ongoing process. The upshot is, he is indeed becoming a Muslim, or “Learning to become a Muslim” as he puts it. There is a mosque where he lives in the West Country where he intends to go and learn how to pray, study the Islamic faith and be instructed properly on the path of God. I asked him if he had some sort of conversion experience. He said he always believed there was a God, and prayed, though he didn't pray to ask for anything. He confirmed to me that he went through the tenets of becoming a Muslim with Omar Bakri over the phone from Lebanon.
He said he believes- very strongly it seems, that what Omar Bakri says about peace talks with Al Qaeda is the correct way forward and that the killing on all sides of the conflict in the War on Terror has to stop. He believes Abu Hamza is the best possible ambassador for peace, and that he should be a go between for the West with those who they consider to be the enemy.He is deeply sorry for the pain he has caused Hamza in the past and seeks his forgiveness. He has learnt his lesson from recent personal suffering at the hands of the media.
He believes Hamza and Qatada are scapegoats. He wants nothing to do with what he calls the “Show Trial” of Abu Hamza except to help Hamza in any way he can. He finnished by saying "I have a lot to learn about Islam. My personal main concern is the release of the two Sheikhs. Free Abu Hamza. Let him teach Islam and let him use his links and contacts to make the UK a safer place for us all."

GLEN JENVEY REVERTS TO ISLAM
OK. Mr Waleed has just told me that Glen Jenvey during a conference call with Omar Bakri has reverted to Islam, taken down his Youtube channel and apologised for his previous attitudes. I think his new name is Omar Hamza.
Obviously this is big news for me as Glen has always been very anti a lot of the people I have been filming. I hope to hear his story or read about it when he is ready.

im fine looking forward to tell the world they should imbrace islam as well.i will be putting the wrongs of my past right and helping all muslim prisoners as a muslim.

JENVEY IN THE MAIL
Glen Jenvey is saying The Daily Mail are calling him a Nazi and is apparently withdrawing evidence to US courts against Hamza.
...I believe that Sheikh Abu Hamza and Sheikh Abu Qatada should in good faith both be allowed out of prison on a control order as soon as possible and I ask thugs at the Daily Mail to leave my friends and family alone. It made me feel sick the Daily Mail's claims that I was a Nazi.

This is a real surprise. I am a bit confused about the grounds Mr Sugar has for sueing but such a high profile case will get to the bottom of this story if there is one. Hey, maybe he can sue The Sun for me!

The Sun story named Sugar, singer Amy Winehouse, producer Mark Ronson and Labour peer Lord Levy as among those allegedly being targeted by Islamic extremists.
It quoted a contributor on the forum called "Abuislam" asking: "Have we got a list of top Jews we can target? Can someone post names and addresses?"
However, in another posting on Ummah.com, it was alleged that Abuislam was in fact Jenvey himself and claimed this had been confirmed from his IP and email addresses. The Bloggerheads website also claimed Jenvey had posted the comment himself.
I had a bit of contact with Glen Jenvey during the Hamza stuff. Everything I was writing was basically the opposite of what he was writing but he was aware of my stuff and didn't seem offended by it. We had quite friendly contact over a few emails in which he said he was a Christian and that he was working for peace.
A coupla people at the Beeb I spoke to thought he was a bit strange, and I would guess he is dyslexic from his spelling, that is not a fault. I never met him. Its not for me to judge. I follow this story with interest.
