I've been reading some great comments I can relate to recently. Scroll down this link to follow Mihelles train of thought.
No one listens. I feel passionately about listening and about seeing issues from as many perspectives as possible. I try to be intellectually flexible. I am able to change my mind without shame. I am able to be convinced by arguments that are logical and are backed up by fact. Perhaps I should start a blog about that. I don't suppose, however, that anyone would reply because most people hang on to their opinions with dear life, being defined by them, and to change those opinions means to "capitulate" or "admit defeat" or some such idiocy.
Moderates are no more. You have to be either on the left or on the right, probably because it is easier than to actually consider other viewpoints. So, we as a nation become even more split, arguing instead of discussing, demeaning instead of considering, screaming instead of listening.
