Frenetic ramblings from the start of the "War on Terror" logging my attempts to film outside Finsbury park mosque over 3 years and sitting through all the subsequent court cases. These days I am usually on Post Factual Society on Facebuk. Do visit Youtube.com/malungtvnews
two things of note have happened since 7/7. Londoners are noticably more friendly to each other on public transport and a tiny section of the media are coming out with stuff like this.
The guy doesn't seem "crazy" or "hate-filled" does he? Although when I was in Pakistan I wonderd whether the lack of a sex life was something to do with making these young guys more war-like.
Full of "vitriol", nursing every imagined grievance, eager for "martyrdom", convinced that indiscriminate mass-murder will advance the British caliphate and Shari'a? Hate-filled and crazy sums it up pretty well.
I'm glad that tragedy is bringing out the best in Londoners, as it did with New Yorkers.
I'm sorry you're tempted to despair, feeling like you got more than you signed on for.
Having your beliefs sorely challenged, as they have been, is necessarily stressful, painful, and difficult. Many in the US experienced that after 9/11 (though I won't presume where your journey will eventually take you).
I think you started this project believing that the US (Bush in particular) and Britain must be wrong about Hamza and his colleagues, otherwise you'd somehow sense it. I think that's the belief most challenged in recent days.
Not really challenged about them as none of them have been arrested. What they have told me conflicts with what this guy (and a few others who have been on TV recently) is saying.
Whoever this guy is in Sweden, his testimony also conflicts with Abu Hamza's teachings about bombing this country.
This whole thing is actually making them look more like the good guys, although of course none of them would hand a fellow Muslim in to the Police.
Though Mr Hamza's views have always conflicted with mine on quite a number of issues he could still be who he says he is.
A friend of Richard Reids was on TV recently more or less saying that he made his own descision in Afghanistan.
I know Mr Hamza was encouraging people to go to Afghanistan. There are plenty of people trained in the use of IED's etc. in this country and nothing happened here in 3 years.

Glad you found it helpful. I didn't realize the extent of your despair (though I should have).
absolutely you should have.
