Sweet! I took my son to Grant Park last night. I've never ever seen or experienced such a large, calm crowd before. Everyone was awestruck by the fact that our democracy still has the ability to function. It was restrained joy and happy relief. It feels a little better to be here today than it did yesterday.

Nice one! I have been consoling my Republican buddies, its nice to congratulate a democrat. I hope your man actually does some of what he says he is going to. On the TV it looked like the park was full of young people was that right? Is a whole new generation full of new hope of am I dreaming?

I’m truly a minority: I didn’t support “President elect Obama”, as I supported John McCain (due to his views and policies on foreign and security issues). That said, Americans have voted for Obama, and as an ardent supporter of America I’m proud to continue my support for the greatest country on earth. I’m particularly proud that unlike some of the tree-hugger white liberals and BMEs (Black and Ethnic Minorities) in the UK who have spent the last 8yrs bashing and snipping at America out of some kind of moral and intellectual superiority, I stand proud and tall (even though my candidate, John McCain lost “convincingly) that I have never lost faith in America even during the past turbulent 8yrs. For me, it’s always been the case of the Israeli Abba Eban (whose picture I have on my desk): defend with vigour what you believe in (America, George W Bush, Neocons, Paris Hilton,).

What the world saw on 4 November was the best and beauty of America: opportunity for all (irrespective of race or creed). Like most (sane) people around the world I too congratulate America and Obama. In the end, the best person won: Obama.

There were a lot of young people, but what you couldn't probably see on tv were all of the middle-aged folks, the families with small children and even some elders (a few with canes or wheelchairs) in the back where the crowd wasn't so pressing.

You aren't dreaming -- we have hope, partly in Obama, but more importantly, in ourselves. He won because tens of thousands of people in most states pitched in to help his campaign. He inspires people to pick up the yoke and be something besides apathetic.

I can't remember the last time we had one of those over here!
