The Navy successfully used dolphins against Vietnamese infiltrators in harbors. The dolphins would harpoon enemy divers in the butt, this harpoon couldn't be removed without surgery and was attached to a line leading to a bouy on the surface. After two such divers were poked in the butt and captured, no more were sent.
Its plausable that the US uses darts with sleep agent as stated in the article. The harpoon worked fine tho.

Read this article.... sounds fishy. For one thing I doubt the Navy would just leave Flipper armed when not on duty.
